"We are concerned by some of the comments being made in the media and on social media sites regarding the sign. The Airport is monitoring opinion closely on this matter and will continue to do so," Steve Fitzgerald concluded.

Wellington Airport will respond to the letter in due course.

The HOLLYWOOD Chamber of Commerce has released a statement that suggests it has not received any communication from Wellington Airport since March last year. Wellington Airport approached the HOLLYWOOD Chamber of Commerce on 6 May 2011 through the Chamber's lawyers. Although this does not change Wellington Airport's position in relation to proceeding with the Wellywood sign, Wellington Airport remains open to discussions with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
