RESA news

Construction works on RESA South are complete.

Construction of RESA North is due to begin in July 2007 and will take approximately 7 months to complete.

This website provides information on the runway safety areas (RESA) that are to be installed at the northern and southern ends of the runway at Wellington International Airport (WIAL).

In 2004, the Airport obtained resource management approval to create an additional safety area at the south end of the runway. Detailed planning and design work, and a construction tender process were undertaken. Brian Perry Construction Limited was the successful tenderer and began construction in late 2005 and finished in May 2007.

More information on the planning, design, construction and community involvement for each of the two runway end safety areas can be accessed by clicking on "RESA North" and "RESA South".
